Specific comments made about this task
Birmingham City Council
Too many options on the councils website for different types of recycling including charity shops! Google took me straight to the large tip (household recycling centre) at Lifford Lane which is what I was after. I couldn't find the same page at all via the council's site but it obvioucly exists if google can find it!
Birmingham City Council
Heavily using the language 'recycling' made it difficult to see that what they call a Household Recycling Centre is what we call a tip
Far too many non relelvant results when used internal search
There is no link from the contact details page for the Regis Road tip back to the Regis Road page which has details about what you can recycle here.
Cherwell District Council
it's was relatively easy to find the information because I knew it would be under something like "recycling centre" but do residents take their rubbish to the "Recycling Centre".....or more likely the TIP. The internal search was better bringing up the information when searching tip as well as recycling centre.
Eden District Council
they call them household waste recycling centres - recommend using 'tip' on the page so the search can find it. (The A-Z uses the term tip)
Great Yarmouth Borough Council
when customers call re the caister recycling centre, they refer to it as the tip or dump, it cannot be found using either reference
Great Yarmouth Borough Council
i have put internal search as difficult because if you type in council tip it doesnt come up with anything, you would need to no that the tip is in caister to find the information. i have set google results as diofficult as although typing in council tip great yarmouth it goes to gybc web site it it goes to bulky item collection
First tried the "Recycling and refuse" link in the middle of council homepage not noticing that it was under a "Report it" heading and so goes to a form for reporting a problem. Went back to homepage and clicked "Rubbish" link on navigation menu, which goes to a page with links for the "Reuse and Recycling Centres"
Internal search only worked with 'household waste and recycling centre' - and even then, it just showed me smuggler's way, not a list of all tips near me. With google, I got to the right page no problem, but it was confusing because when I went to the Lambeth Waste and recycling centre page, I wanted a list of things that I could take to the centre. The list was a bit confusing because it came across as a a list of what, in general, people should do with different types of waste - not specifically what the recycling centre would or wouldn't accept.
Liverpool City Council
The search result for the key-phrase "Rubbish Tips" does not show any results. On the Find a Recycling Centre or Tip page, the address under the Otterspool Recycling Centre header, could probably use a little spacing between each line. The lines seem very close together, but this is obviously not essential.
North East Lincolnshire Council
Not really clear and the location map only shows Grimsby so if in Immingham there is no info
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council
Sandwell Council's website was very slow to load compared with other similar websites when tested.
I think this page could be formatted better - it could even be added to 'Recycling banks' directory 'Banks and tips' or something similar?
