Specific comments made about this task
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council - 2015-04-14
it was really easy to find the form i needed to fill out to file a report regarding food hygiene
Birmingham City Council - 2013-12-20
There are a lot of things on the Environmental Health main page, but food hygiene report isn't, meaning I had to scan over to the menu. If there were fewer things on the main page then ironically scanning over to the menu would have been easier. On the form, I'm not sure if the arcane difference between a Food Product Complaint or a Food Business Complaint is clear or helpful.
Birmingham City Council - 2014-02-05
Apart from the Internal search (which wasn't helpful at all), the other three options were quite easy. Most people would expect it to be under 'Health and Social Care' which it was and then on the left was a box saying 'Food Safety' and when you clicked on it, it had a blue box that you could click on to report this issue. The A-Z and Google searches I had no problem with but I gave up on the INternal search as when i typed in the query 'Report A Food Hygiene Problem', it came up with irrelevant answers and didn't direct me to the page it was suppossed to. If this problem could be sorted, then this task would be perfect!!!

Finding the form via search was really easy. Once I got to the form it was terrible - some address boxes wouldn't accept input, and the nuance of whether I'm reporting a food product complaint or a food business complaint is lost on me. Navigating from the home page I found it from both Business, and Environment, though I'm not sure either of those options would be obvious to most people.
Bracknell Forest Council - 2014-02-28
Food safety page doesn't have a link to the report form for hygine. The enquiry form is very low down the page. A-Z entry for form?
Bracknell Forest Council - 2014-03-20
There is a popular service to report a food item complaint on the food hygiene training page, but it is not clearly sign posted.
Carlisle City Council - 2014-04-14
Easy to find and understand. The report form was simple and would not take very long to fill out.
Copeland Borough Council - 2014-02-12
The overall design of the page made it harder to read than it could have been. As somebody wanting to report getting food poisoning I want to be taken straight to the relevant information rather than have the page dominated by a large promo picture of somebody holding a slice of pizza! Internal search gave two pages about rats a mice with the remaining results appearing to be meeting minutes.
Coventry City Council - 2014-02-06
There isn't much to say because this was very staight forward and easy. On the navigation using the home page, you just had to go onto 'REPORT' which was obvious and stood out therefore easy to find. On the drop down, it said 'Food Complaints'. The A-Z was very easy because just find the letter 'F' for 'Food' and you'd find it. On the internal search, it knew what I wanted to type because when I typed in 'Food' then complaint followed on. The results for both the Internal and Google search was good and very easy because the most relevant searches/results were at the top. Either way of searching is suitable and good to use as the results are found at roughly the same speed and are very easy to find.

From the front page I was able to navigate to a form to report this. From the A-Z I was directed to a different page with only a telephone number and email address. Inconsistency and lack of form access as standard on information pages makes this frustrating.
Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council - 2018-08-28
It was relatively easy to get to the relevant form (though as a 'resident' I wouldn't expect to have to click on 'business' to get to it, I just happened to see it because of the annoying navigation popup on mouseover), but then when I got to the form I discovered I have to register for an account. Big no-no from a usability perspective, but just as relevantly, what is the legal basis for you to force somebody to create an account in order to report a problem?
Gravesham Borough Council - 2014-10-24
Easy access to the food hygiene page but once on the food section, very long and confusing text which states that GBC investigates reports about food hygiene but doesn't indicate how someone can report a problem. More information is available for food businesses; the food section is not designed very well to be made suitable for members of the public as well. Lots of different confusing sections which only food businesses would understand. GBC site for food is 3rd on Google - top 2 are for FSA.
Newcastle City Council - 2015-01-16
Navigation and index searching was complicated by the fact you have to follow Environment and Waste to get to Environmental Health and Pest Control. I would have been more inclined to look under Social Care and Health or Report.
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea - 2016-07-20
Very long page of information about different kinds of food complaint, but I couldn't see any direct way to raise my complaint online. I also think the top level Environment for this kind of thing is confusing to the average web user.
Wandsworth Council - 2014-04-01
Navigation result: Unable to find anything on food hygiene problem via the navigation, checked on "health and social care" but still nothing. Internal: searched "food unsafe problem" and did not link me to anything relevant towards food hygiene yet it links with hygiene but is an easier term.
Wychavon District Council - 2017-07-20
Navigation was very difficult - starting off was not easy in the first place and relied on knowledge of council structure, and many clicks eventually took me to a page on a completely different website which told me I had to phone up to report it. Neither of the searches pulled up anything useful.
